Dresses Over Jeans

My mother is a hoarder. She's probably still got receipts from the 1990s and bags upon bags of plastic bags that don't even get to see the light of day. For me though, her hoarding has become something that has shaped my style and my love for clothing as when I go back home to Yorkshire every six months or so, I'm able to have a rummage through an archive of vintage and pre-loved pieces. The irony of fashion is that something we hate six months previous is then the height of fashion and the most coveted trend. Each time I visit my parents, I tend to add another vintage piece to my growing collection and this time it was this fabulous silver satin dress. The satin material hangs so beautifully off the body and although on its own it looks very fresh from the '80s, paired with light wash jeans and chunky mules, I'm able to give the dress the modern update it needs. Don't get me wrong, the dresses over jeans trend ain't going to be everyone's cup of tea and perhaps most would rather forget this early noughties phenomenon, but to me, when it is done right, there is something really glam about it.
